Course Description

This course very briefly explores trauma-informed care (TIC) by identifying the key concepts that characterize best practices in psychotherapy and related clinical interventions. Topics addressed in this course include the benefits, the core principles, and the competencies of TIC; screening and assessment of trauma; and an example of case documentation reflecting the use of a TIC approach. Participants read online content, view short web-based videos, and complete an interactive exercise before passing the online posttest with a score of 80% or better to print a certificate of completion.

Target Audience

This course provides social workers and behavioral health practitioners with a deeper understanding of the complexities of trauma and how to respond to trauma with the use of a trauma-informed care (TIC) approach.
